Following his recent retirement as Director General of the International Co-operative Alliance, Iain Macdonald has agreed to act as the co-operative consultant to the organisers of ICA ExpoCoop 2010 in Bangalore, India. Iain brings many years of experience of working with and knowledge of co-operative businesses at a global level.
Always a firm believer in the idea of a regular global co-operative trade fair, Iain will be encouraging co-operatives from across the world to participate in Bangalore in December. "I am delighted that we have already sold nearly 80% of the space in Bangalore but I am determined that we reach 100%!" said Iain, adding "Showcasing co-operative enterprise in this way is not just good for co-operative to co-operative trade, but also greatly increases the visibility and success of the co-operative model of business to the outside world"
Bangalore is also a stepping stone to the next ICA ExpoCoop in Manchester, UK in 2012 and Iain Macdonald considers that holding EXPO in the birthplace of Co-operation during the UN's International Year of Co-operatives is a sure recipe for success.
